THINK BIG….
How many times did you set a goal that you knew it was in your range of skills, playing it safe and not aiming higher?
It happened to me many times, actually most of the time. I am conditioned by paradigms ingrained into my subconscious during my upbringing. Unknowingly, I set limitations for myself.
Have you ever felt like resizing a goal because you thought it was outside of your reach? Maybe because you didn’t have the knowledge and skills to achieve it “yet”? Or because you compared yourself to others, feeling unworthy?
Big achievers have the guts to set outstanding goals, often without knowing how to achieve them. It’s their belief, commitment and persistence on the cause that make them succeed.
But first of all they do not limit their imagination and consequently their results!
Here is a remarkable example of achievement:
George Dantzig, as a doctoral student at the University of California, Berkeley, arrived late for a statistics class and mistook two problems written on the board for homework. These problems were actually examples of unsolved statistics problems that his professor, Jerzy Neyman, had put up.
Dantzig took them home and, assuming they were a homework assignment, solved them. He later submitted the solutions, apologising for his delay in solving those problems, saying that he had found them particularly challenging.
When Neyman later informed him that he had solved two open problems in statistical theory, Dantzig was surprised.
Dantzig admitted that if he had known they were unsolvable problems he would not have even tried to solve them.
Dantzig didn’t assume that those problems were beyond his capabilities.
What could you achieve if you didn’t assume it was beyond your capabilities?
Start building the habit of thinking bigger than what you are now doing.
If you set a goal in numbers, DOUBLE it!
If your goal is an idea, make it HUGE! Shoot for the Moon!
An outrageous idea is simply a CRAZY idea until it’s realised. Then it’s a BREAKTHROUGH!
